Find Out More About ARINCDirect Flight Support Services SuiteRockwell Collins has announced that is has released a series of updates for its ARINCDirect Flight Operations System, FOS.

Also, FOS can now be integrated with their ARINCDirect safety management tools, providing access to flight and fatigue risk assessment via the Pulsar Infomatics Aviation Fatigue Metre suite, giving users instant identification capabilities for fatigue ‘hot spots’ across a given operational schedule.

Brian Kruger, senior director of Applications and Services for Rockwell Collins said that the upgrades place a focus on ‘enhancing efficiency for flight departments’.

The latest version of FOS features enhanced mobile functionality with a touch-screen interface for users of tablets and smartphones.

The new service, launched in a collaboration between Rockwell Collins’ ARINCDirect, XipLink and International Communications Group Inc. (ICG) will utilise XipLink XA appliance gateways on the ground, and deliver two-way ‘bracketed’ optimisation via XipLink’s Virtual modules to and from the aircraft. The results will offer high-speed connectivity for business aviation.

Business Aviation NewsInternational Jet Management and Mena Aerospace have entered into a joint venture for the promotion, sale and co-ordination of chartered business jets in Bahrain, which will allow IJM to develop and expand its business into the Middle East.

The MENA subsidiary, MAE Aircraft Management, hold a Kingdom of Bahrain Civil Aviation Affairs-issued Aircraft Operating Certificate and are based at Bahrain International Airport in a private hangar facility.

By forming the partnership, IJM are looking forward to working with a locally respected aircraft management company to ‘achieve a strategy for mutual growth.’

Bruce Dickinson Signs MOU with Air DjiboutiAir Djibouti has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Iron maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, also less famously chairman of Cardiff Aviation, to help with the creation of a national carrier for the East African nation.

Cardiff Aviation is based at St Athan- Cardiff Airport Aerospace Enterprise Zone in the UK and operates from a former RAF base, providing certified MRO and pilot training.

Business Aviation Safety Summit in Fort Lauderdale

Business Aviation Safety SummitThe importance of data sharing, analysis, disaster recovery and the human factors involved in business aviation safety standards will be discussed and focussed upon this week as pilots and aviation professionals meet in Fort Lauderdale at the NBAA and Flight Safety Foundation’s Business Aviation Safety Summit.

Amongst the first speakers was G550 pilot, Steve Charbonneau, who announced the initial success of the voluntary aviation safety and information analysis sharing program (ASIAS) with 12 departmental members.

Mr John Cox, from Safety Operating Systems, a Washington aviation consultancy firm, talked about the fire risks of the use of lithium ion batteries onboard an aircraft and the sobering difficulties of extinguishing such a fire.

The two-day event, formerly known as the Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar, is industry recognised as the premier safety forum.

Patrick Hansen & Niall Olver Seal Luxaviation DealLuxaviation, formed in 2009 and headquartered in Luxembourg, have become the world’s 2nd largest business jet operator with their acquisition of ExecuJet, it was confirmed this week.

Now operating more than 250 executive aircraft in 22 countries, Luxaviation is rivalled only by NetJets in fleet size and they have plans to double their fleet through further acquisitions.

Co-CEO of Luxaviation, Mr Patrick Hansen is delighted with the deal and said, “We have bought national champions. Now we have also acquired an international one which will allow us to grow in many countries.”

Cessna Citation to Boost Chinese Charter ServicesChina Aviation Industry General Aircraft Company will team with Cessna in another joint venture for the company which also involves Guangzhou Zhongeng Group and will be named Zhonghen International Business Aviation.

Cessna, Textron Aviation’s Aircraft unit, who announced the venture at the Asian Business Aviation Conference this week plan to launch a charter management service in China next year involving Guangzhou’s Cessna Citation XLS+ aircraft with a plan to introduce and manage a further range from Textron’s portfolio in the future.

Looking forward, the company believe that the Chinese market is one of the most important to expand to with the emergence of a growing expansion of the business aviation industry.

New Aircraft Financing Scheme for Business Aviation

Aircraft Financing Scheme LaunchUS-based Global Jet Capital (GJC) is a recently-launched leasing and lending company, initially funded with a $2 billion investment fund from AE Industrial Partners, GSO Capital and The Carlyle Group.

The company is now targeting an aircraft market, offering financing for business jets with a price tag of $30 million and upwards. A range of options will be available, including mortgage, finance leases, progress payments and mezzanine finance, which combines debt and equity.

Launched at the ABACE exhibition, GJC are aiming their financing options outside the US, where it expects the greatest uptake to be located. The company has noticed a surge in demand for this type of financing over the past three years, since banks and traditional finance companies have begun to shy away from jet financing.

Transactions are already being discussed for Gulfstream, Boeing and Bombardier aircraft.
